What an exciting post to pen! When I started this little adventure in June, I had no idea I would love it so much. This blog has brought me so much joy and accomplishment this year. In light of this milestone -- huge! in my book -- here are some guides on how best to use the old-standby libation for all celebratory occasions...champagne! via via via I NEED this, via via via via I can't wait to share another 100 posts...and lots more bubbly...with . . .
Recipe: Breakfast Tarts
Today's recipe is super easy and definitely versatile. It is a great option for breakfast or brunch, a big group or a simple Saturday breakfast at home. It is inexpensive, and the options are endless. Meet the breakfast tart. Buttery, flaky puff pastry takes bacon and eggs to the next level. I added in caramelized onions, sauteed cherry tomatoes, and a little fresh thyme. However, you can pack in almost anything you would add to a fritatta or omelet. I think . . .
After the flood: New [Kitchen] Direction
Oh, the joys a full-home remodel. As you may remember, I had grand plans of painting our new kitchen cabinets a beautiful medium-tone gray and topping them with a durable Carrera-like alternative. via Due to budget constraints and possible lighting issues, we have decided to go with a classic bright white cabinet, black granite, and polished chrome pulls and fixtures. To be honest, I was pretty upset about the change. However, after much thought, I . . .
Monday Menu: Girls’ Night In
As much as I love hanging with my boys, I love a girls night in. This menu is hearty enough for dinner, just indulgent enough for a "cheat night", and filled with quick recipes that won't exhaust the hostess. Oh, and what would a 'girls' night in' be without a perfect John Hughs 80's classic? I would choose Sixteen Candles...what is your favorite?? dip - shrimp cocktail - salad - pasta . . .
I love you, a bushel and a peck…
On this Valentine's Day, I thought I would share one of my little ways I tell Rex I love him every night. Have you heard of the love song, A Bushel and a Peck from the Broadway hit, Guys and Dolls? Here is the Doris Day version she recorded in 1950. Well, my mom sang it to me when I was little, and my sister and I have both carried on that tradition with our children. Every night, before I put Rex in his crib, I hold him and sing, "I love you, a bushel and a peck. A . . .

2014 Goals for Fig + Cotton!
With so much going on in my personal life (read: flood, day job, family, etc.), I haven't had the opportunity to spend as much time and energy on Fig + Cotton as I would like. So, I decided to write down my 2014 goals for my little budding blog and paperie. It was such a wonderful exercise for me. This simple task was eye-opening and helped me refocus on what I truly want Fig + Cotton to be for me, my family, and for all of you! I broke my goals up into two categories: . . .

Remodel: Updated Traditionalist Inspiration Board
The fabulous lifestyle blogger Julia Ryan is hosting an inspiration board contest with Polyvore, and I couldn't resist entering! I already had an inspiration board created for my actual living room remodel, so I spruced it up...and entered it. I do think of myself as an updated traditionalist (with a bit of a rustic vibe thrown in), so this is right up my alley. The bonus is that there will be two $500 Serena and Lily gift cards awarded to the winners! Hopefully, I will . . .
