Recipe: Spinach and Potato Frittata
Brunch is certainly one of my favorite meals. I love the sweet and savory menu combinations, and I love the excuse for morning champagne. One of my go-to brunch recipes is a classic frittata. This crustless egg dish can be the home to an infinite amount of ingredient combinations to satisfy even your pickiest guest. Today, I kept it simple and filled a cast iron skillet with spinach and potatoes. Recipe: Spinach and Potato Frittata (inspired by this recipe) 3 . . .
So, Monday crept up on me again.
Two three-day weekends in a row is a good thing...and a bad thing. I am now wondering how I can make that happen on a weekly basis. Friday, we had a surprise day at home (I would say "off,"but I worked for most of it) due to some very cold temperatures here in Austin. Ice on the ground freaks people out around here, and my office downtown was closed for the day. We spent all day in our pjs, and it was glorious. Saturday and Sunday, however, provided us with bright sunshine . . .
F+C Etsy Store
With everything going on in my little world -- the flood remodel, my amazing full time job, the little (and the big) man at home -- I have decided to close Fig + Cotton's Etsy store for now. I refuse to say that it won't open back up at some point, but I needed to cut something out, and sadly, the store was the best thing to go. However, my stationery products are still alive and kicking on Minted.com! I will continue to grow my product line with Minted through submitting designs to that . . .

Recipe: Creamy Chicken Soup
With the cold weather upon us, fragrant soups are just what the doctor ordered. I will say, as this was simmering on the stove, our mouths were watering. Serve with a toasted and buttered baguette, and you have the perfect winter dinner. Recipe: Creamy Chicken Soup (influenced by this recipe) 4 main course servings, and 6 first course servings 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter 1 medium yellow onion, chopped 2 stalks celery (with leaves), chopped 3 medium carrots, peeled and . . .
Menu: Champs and Chicken…Fried Chicken, that is.
My beautiful friend, Brooke, who happens to be an accomplished sommelier, always serves bubbles and fried chicken. It is an amazing combo...who knew?! Use this fun, southern menu for a girls' brunch or a fun outdoor dinner party... chicken - cheddar biscuits - asparagus - deviled eggs - cobbler . . .
Recipe: Slow-cooked Green Beans
Today's recipe is a favorite of my friends and family. These slow-cooked green beans are sweet, savory, rich, and will melt in your mouth. This side is always requested at family meals, and I know your family will love them as well! This recipe makes quite a bit, but you can easily cut it down. However, I promise your loved ones will be asking for leftovers the next day! Recipe: Slow-cooked Green Beans 4 - 5 lbs fresh green beans (ends snapped) 1 lb bacon, . . .

After the Flood: Kitchen Remodel
Happy FREEZING COLD Monday! It has now been five long weeks since our home was hit by the devastating flash flood on Halloween morning. Along with all of the heartache, stress, and hard decisions, I am doing my very best to focus on the silver lining: an entire home remodel! I plan to share my inspiration and progress as we move forward. And since I love being in the kitchen, I thought we would start there with the inspiration talk. We currently have (make that had) . . .
