Oh, the joys a full-home remodel. As you may remember, I had grand plans of painting our new kitchen cabinets a beautiful medium-tone gray and topping them with a durable Carrera-like alternative.

Due to budget constraints and possible lighting issues, we have decided to go with a classic bright white cabinet, black granite, and polished chrome pulls and fixtures. To be honest, I was pretty upset about the change. However, after much thought, I actually think this will be even better!

Picking the right gray for the cabinets was starting to stress me out. The light in our kitchen is pretty scarce, so I wanted a lighter tone, but I also wanted some contrast with the putty-gray wall color we fell in love with. Also, paint colors in our house register more blue, so we knew we wanted more of a “griege” but not green. Yes, problems. So, eliminating that color decision from the mix gave me back a bit of my sleep.

More importantly, I have always loved a classic white kitchen. I did want something a bit more “fun” since I was in 100% control — well, with Mat (!) — of the aesthetic in this room, but after much thought, I am even MORE excited about this. Finally, it will be better for resale down the road.
