My Cookbook Wishlist
So, my 35th birthday is around the corner, and, as usual, I can't think of anything I "need." However, I have plenty of things I "want!" Included in that list are a few cookbooks that I can't wait to get my hands on. Here is my list; what is yours? 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 . . .
Recipe: Stacked Enchiladas
Whew. I have been away for a whole week! Don't worry, I wasn't doing anything exciting...everyday life got in the way of F + C. But, I am back! This recipe is seriously delicious. I modified this recipe from Perry's Plate, and it was a huge hit. You could do this one with or without meat; chicken, beef, or even shrimp would be amazing. I actually used the leftover beef from this post from earlier in the month, and it was super. It does take a bit . . .
Personalized Return Address Stamps
I love receiving a pretty envelope in the mail. There are so many ways to spruce up them up these days including envelopes made of all the gorgeous colors of the rainbow, washi tape, wrap labels, fun ink colors, and gorgeous calligraphy. I especially love the trend of one-of-a-kind return address stamps. They add such a whimsical and personal touch. So many of my Minted friends create beautiful options for custom return address stamps. Since I know and work with these . . .
Beef + Broccoli Stir-fry
I adore asian food. All of it. Besides sushi, chinese fast food is my favorite. I am almost embarrased to admit it. It is one of my guilty pleasures, and I am always drawn to recipes where I can recreate my favorites at home. Unfortunately, I am usually unsuccessful. Don't get me wrong. It isn't bad, per se, but it isn't a recreation of my beloved chinese fast food. As I was flipping through the new Houston Junior League Cookbook (which is quite beautiful), I was . . .
Menu: Ladies Brunch
It seems like we ladies are brunching more and more these days. For birthdays, for showers, for Sunday get togethers...we all seem to gravitate towards the meal that is two meals in one. Below is a great menu to throw a ladies brunch at home! frittata - party decor - cocktail - salad - biscuits - cheesecake . . .
Back to Basics: Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are definitely a favorite on many dinner tables. They are one of the best comfort foods around. One of my girlfriends once told me that all you need to know in the kitchen is how to make a mean batch of mashed potatoes when cooking dinner on a date. I totally agree. And she wasn't talking fancy pureed mashers either...we are talking hearty, skin-on, and super creamy. That's how we like them around here, too. This first "back to basics" recipe is for . . .
How to Set a Casual Dinner Table
Setting the dinner table does not need to be an ordeal. While I do love a family-style dinner where napkins and plates are stacked at the end of a buffet for no-nonsense dining, there is something about a set table that makes any meal taste just a little bit better. A pretty table doesn't mean polishing all of your silver or standing over an ironing board for hours ironing perfect creases into each monogrammed linen napkin. Case in point: classic white every day dishes, a simple . . .

Beef Street Tacos
Living in Austin, I have eaten my fair share of tacos. Not only are they insanely popular right now, street-style tacos are completely versatile. From al pastor to grilled chicken to shredded beef, the variations and ingredients are endless. I decided to try my hand at making some at home. I perused my favorite blogs and websites looking for some tips from other home cooks, and I found this great beef recipe from Perry's Plate. I decided to use it as a base and go from . . .
