My Beautiful New Niece!

August 20, 2013

My Beautiful New Niece!

On Wednesday, August 14th, our family welcomed a sweet little girl into the world!  A healthy and gorgeous Makena Jane Sanders was born.  I am so proud of my baby brother! We were all there when she arrived, but Rex didn't get to meet her until last Saturday.  He was smitten!  Beautiful baby girl.  Rex is a total tickle bug, and tickling Makena was the highlight of the visit. All the cousins together! Rex was a little unsure about "holding" the baby...and . . .

For the Love of Milk Glass

For the Love of Milk Glass

Via Milk glass, with its modern hues and vintage shape, is making a huge comeback.  You can find it on the pages of almost every shelter magazine, on the tables of the most elegant wedding receptions, and filling the cupboards of the most fashionable women. I adore milk glass.  I actually have a small collection of bright turquoise vases and compotes that I used for part of the floral arrangements for my wedding brunch, and again for Rex's first birthday party. Summers in the South

Summers in the South

It is hard to believe that summer is almost over.  The malicious school year is creeping around the corner, and soon we will have shorter days, brisker weather (well, I am praying!), and the care free summer attitude will be gone until next year. Although it is HOT as...well, you know...here in Texas, we have really enjoyed this summer.  The first full summer in our new home.  The anticipation of a new niece about to arrive.  A sweet new baby born to one of my dearest . . .

21 Great Summer Squash Recipes

Happy Monday!  Once again, the weekend was too short!  Our little family cruised a few hours north to Dallas to spend some much-needed time with some of our greatest friends.  We miss them dearly, and a weekend wasn't enough time to really catch up.  However, we celebrated a birthday (more on that later this week), ate at one of our favorite casual Dallas restaurants, The Flying Fish, and did a lot of pretend rodeo bronc riding. Well, back to business as usual today. . . .
