Two weeks ago, I set out a no-fail weekly plan for family meal planning. You can get all the details here, but below you will find my Field Guide for stress-free meal planning along with this weeks menu! This week's menu covers some of the recipes requested the most around my house. I am sure they will be winners in yours as well! Sunday: Grilled steaks (or if it is too cold, use this method for cooking them indoors), Creamy Potato Gratin, and simple Sauteed Green . . .
The big 3-6!
Well, today is the first day of the rest of my life...and I will live the next year as a 36-year-old. This is good timing because until a few months ago, I was telling people that I was already 36 until my husband reminded me I was 35. Oops. Tonight I will not be dancing on tables like in my 20s, I will be enjoying some Mexican food with my little family. Can't think of anything I would like to do more! Now, there will be champagne and maybe a good movie after Rex . . .
Butternut Squash Cassoulet
A rich, slow-cooked casserole originating in the south of France, cassoulets are a dish beloved by generations of French cooks. These rustic and flavorful dishes usually contain white beans and an assortment of meats. Depending on the cook, you may find any variation of lamb, pork, or chicken in a cassoulet. With fall weather FINALLY making an appearance, I crave fulfilling warm dishes for dinner. A cassoulet definitely fits that bill, and this one is extra . . .

Work to Weekend: Warby Parker Sunnies
Today, I am bringing you a fun new fashion post called Work to Weekend. I will take one piece of clothing or an accessory and show you how to get the most mileage from that piece over the weekend and during the work week. First up is Warby Parker's new Corner Collection. This collection is flirting with traditional eyewear shapes, but in their words, this collection is "totally distinctive and a little bit irreverent." There are five new frames, and since I don't wear . . .
Rex’s 3rd Nautical Birthday Party
So, my little nugget turned three last week. Can you believe it? I can't. We had a quiet get together at home on his actual birthday, but we had a fun blow out last weekend! Mat and I are so lucky to have amazing friends and family, and we loved seeing Rex surrounded by everyone on Saturday...especially, his BFF, Cilla Kay, who he shared his big day with. I am honestly the worst at taking great pictures when I am hosting a party, so these are the best you are going to . . .
Fashion Fundamentals: Fall Transition Pieces
Today's Fall Fashion Fundamentals post is all about transition pieces. I don't know about you, but I have limited closet space...even with a recent remodel. So, about this time every year, I start migrating my fall/winter clothes from the guest bedroom closet and packing up my summer wardrobe for next year. There are, however, multiple pieces in your closet that can help you easily transition from summer to fall. Here are some of my favorites. Summer via; Fall . . .
Velvet Chicken Stir Fry with Warm Ginger Vinaigrette
Our household loves a good stir fry, but like most home chefs, I do get in a rut. I went perusing through my cookbooks, Pinterest, and my favorite recipe blogs, and I found a wonderful recipe for a smooth, velvety chicken...perfect for a stir fry. I also wanted a lighter stir fry sauce, so I went with a warm vinaigrette instead of the typical rich stir fry sauce we are accustomed to. There are two "ways" to create velvety chicken. One way, is stir frying involving . . .
My 10-day Detox and Maintenance Plan
via In August, I poured out a bit of my heart about my journey to get healthy. I knew I didn't want to "diet," but I needed some fairly drastic changes in my lifestyle. I wanted to be the best version of myself possible. I bet a lot of you feel this way too. I decided to go see a nutritionist and take control of my body, once and for all. If you are in Austin, go see Carly at Nutritional Wisdom. You will not regret it. At all. Y'all. It has been the best decision I have . . .
