Rex’s 3rd Birthday Party Inspiration

September 23, 2014

How in the world is my little nugget turning 3??  As I prepare for the fact that my baby is now a full-fledged toddler, I hide my anxiety through party planning.  I know I am not alone here.  This year, we are having a joint birthday party with Rex’s BFF, Cilla Kay.  She is a year and a week older than him, and they are two peas in a pod.  We are so lucky to have little Miss Cilla Kay and her wonderful parents in our lives.

Although I have been pinning like crazy for this event, I also created a quick party board for the event.  Co-ed parties can sometimes be a challenge, but we decided to go with a sweet nautical theme of whales, stripes, octopuses, and anchors.  I’m getting excited!  We are REALLY trying not to go overboard…but it is becoming more and more difficult.

1 / Fun food is a must for a kids’ birthday party, in my opinion.  These crab croissant sandwiches will certainly be making an appearance.

2 / Pretty blooms make any event feel special.  I love taking twine and wrapping it around simple glass vases that we all have hiding at the top of our pantry.  All you need is a glue gun and some craft store twine.  It only took me 5 minutes to do two!

3 / What is a nautical party without lots of stripes?  We are using stripes in a lot of the decor, and I love this navy and white runner.

4 / Since one of the many hats I wear is a stationery designer, we are going to have lots of fun paper pretties throughout.  I think these little flags are just too cute.

5 / I love a good decorated cookie.  My friend, Allison, the Cookie Fairy, is making some pink whales and navy octopuses for us.

6 / Rex and Cilla Kay both adore balloons…so, we may be cooking up coming like this.

7 / We had a photo booth at my brother’s baby shower, and it was so much fun.  We are thinking of doing something easy, sweet, and nautical, like this, at the party.

8 / The kiddos will be dressed in pink, navy, and stripes.  I love this for a little lady and this classic for a little lad.

9 / With a navy and pink theme, what could be better than pink lemonade and blueberries.

I hope you all are having a great week!  In case you didn’t see, my Effortless Entertaining post for La Dolce Vita last week was another great way to entertain with toddlers!
