Today, I am over at La Dolce Vita today talking about how to throw a cocktail party in a pinch. Come see!
The cocktail featured is one of my all-time favorites. It is sweet, sour, and a bit bubbly: the French 75. Now, I like to add in St. Germaine liquor, and some mixologists will say this is not a French 75, but possibly a French 77. Regardless, it is delicious.
When my husband I were in New Orleans recently, I must have ordered 20 of these. At every restaurant and bar, each bartender had their take. I even had a frozen French 75…which was pretty divine.
Recipe: the French 75
Makes one cocktail.
2 ounces gin (I used Hendricks)
1/2 ounce St. Germaine (elderflower liqueur)
1 ounce lemon juice
2 ounces sparking wine (I used a Spanish cava)
a small lemon garnish
Shake the gin, St. Germaine, and lemon juice together with ice. Strain and poor into a cocktail glass (I would go champagne flute or coup). Pour 2 ounces of sparkling wine over the drink and garnish.
